Overview
This full-day symposium at the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law will analyze America’s opioid overdose epidemic through a “pathways approach,” recognizing that the epidemic derives from separate, dueling sources—legal and illegal. The event will feature a diverse and dynamic roster of legal scholars, policymakers, and interdisciplinary practitioners who will examine issues pertaining to the pharmaceutical industry, healthcare providers, law enforcement, drug imports, the criminal justice system, public health, and more.

Objectives
After participating in this activity, you should be able to:

  1. Analyze the United States' opioid overdose epidemic through a “pathways approach,” recognizing that the epidemic derives from separate, dueling sources—legal and illegal
  2. Explain how opioids intersect the law differently in various practice settings, including healthcare, law enforcement, the criminal justice system, and public health
