Overview

The 2022 Pediatric Palliative Oncology Symposium (PPOS) will once again be held virtually, on September 22, 2022, from 8am-5pm (CDT).

PPOS 2022 will focus on the comprehensive care of children with cancer and their families. Our theme for this year is Next Generation Pediatric Palliative Oncology. Featured experts and a panel of bereaved parents will cover a host of challenging subjects, including effective use of telehealth in pediatric palliative care, new updated AAP guidance on end-of-life care, cutting-edge quality improvement utilization, novel models of care delivery, ethical issues/conundrums, bereavement care in the pandemic era and modern day multi-modal pain management in pediatric palliative oncology

Oncology and palliative care clinicians as well as psychosocial professionals are invited to attend.

Please note that the talks will be simultaneously translated into Spanish, and all registrants will be able to access recordings of the sessions in both languages after the symposium.

Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, you should be able to:

  1. Summarize and explain the basic concepts of pediatric palliative care
  2. Identify and manage end of life symptoms in children with cancer and high-risk illnesses
  3. Define how to measure and standardize quality palliative care for children with cancer
  4. Identify opportunities to address palliative care needs in humanitarian crises
  5. Prepare for communication challenges with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members
  6. Define fundamental principles that guide ethical decision making and resolving conflict
  7. Identify opportunities for integrative medicine within pediatric oncology and advanced pain management
  8. Demonstrate current models of pediatric palliative care integration in the outpatient and home setting

Registration
Registration for this virtual symposium IS OPEN; it is free for all registrants and will remain open until September 22. Register by clicking the Register tab above or go directly to the registration form to get started.
