Overview

Dr. Francesca Fioredda will present the "European guidelines on treatment and supportive measures in chronic neutropenias: A consensus between the European Hematology Association and the EuNet-INNOCHRON COST Action based on a systematic evidence review" which she has authored.

Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, you should be able to:

  1. Apply evidence- and consensus-based G-CSF treatment strategies for various forms of chronic neutropenia, tailoring the approach based on the specific diagnosis, infection history, and recommended absolute neutrophil count (ANC) targets.
  2. Evaluate the indications for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) in patients with severe congenital neutropenia by applying a risk-based framework that considers G-CSF response, genetic risk factors, and evidence of clonal evolution to MDS/leukemia.
  3. Develop a holistic management plan for patients with chronic neutropenia by integrating appropriate supportive care measures (e.g., dental hygiene, vaccinations) and distinguishing between recommended novel therapies and non-recommended treatments such as corticosteroids.
