Overview

Please note: This course has been rescheduled for May 16, 2020.  The course will be presented remotely via WebEx.


This educational course focuses on the current management of children with malignant solid tumors. Experts will present summaries of the critical issues on the surgical management of major pediatric solid tumors (Neuroblastoma, Wilms Tumor, Sarcomas, Liver Tumors, and Germ Cell Tumors), as well as reviews of rare pediatric solid tumors. In addition, presentations on Mediastinal Mass, Vascular Tumors, Oncofertility, Minimally Invasive Surgery, and Management of Pulmonary Metastatic Disease will be made. This 1½ day course is designed for General Pediatric Surgical Fellows and Junior Faculty who are COG Institutional Surgery RIs.  


Objectives
After attending this review course, participants should be able to: 

  1. Identify the critical issues in the management of children with malignant solid tumors.
  2. Use current strategies and research findings to improve surgical care of pediatric patients with solid tumors.
  3. Review pre-operative workup of children with various pediatric malignancies.
  4. Present the staging systems for pediatric solid malignancies.
  5. Discuss rare pediatric solid tumors.
