Special Announcement

With profound sadness, we share news of the death of Zoltán Patay, MD, PhD, chair of the Department of Diagnostic Imaging at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Read more about him and his work in the St. Jude announcement. The Pediatric Biomedical Imaging Initiative (PBII) was part of his vision for the department and for the world of pediatric radiology and he was looking forward to this Neuro-oncologic Imaging Education Course, as in-person meetings are again taking place. We are committed to continuing the PBII Initiatives in his memory. 

 


 

Course Information

This course is focused on pediatric neuro-oncologic imaging and related topics (e.g. pathology, imaging, clinical management, side effects of treatment) with expert speakers from St. Jude and around the country.

Some of the topics covered by this course will include: 

  • CNS Side-Effects of Cancer Therapy
  • Pediatric Type Diffuse Low-grade Gliomas
  • Pediatric Type Diffuse High-grade Gliomas
  • Circumscribed Astrocytic Tumors
  • Ependymal Tumors
  • Glioneuronal and Neuronal Tumors
  • Embryonal Tumors
  • Best Imaging Practices
  • Managing Pediatric Brain Tumor Patients in the Department of Diagnostic Imaging (scheduling, safety, screening, monitoring)
  • Cancer Predisposition Syndromes
  • CNS Manifestations of Hematologic Disorders, including Histiocytoses
  • Management of Hydrocephalus

Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, you should be able to:

  1. Describe translational diagnostic imaging aspects of latest basic-science discoveries in pediatric CNS tumors
  2. Discuss updates in imaging techniques and diagnostic criteria in pediatric neuro-oncology
  3. Explain updates on clinical management trends and options, as well as outcomes

At this time, the PBII Pediatric Neuro-Oncologic Imaging Education Course will be an in-person event only.  No virtual option will be available.
